Beides h\u00f6rbar zu machen, hat sich Michael Hell mit seiner zweiteiligen CD-Edition der Cembalowerke Joseph Haydns zum Ziel gesetzt. Sie enth\u00e4lt alle drei Solo-Kompositionen f\u00fcr Cembalo, die die au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlich seltene Einrichtung der sogenannten Wiener Bassoktav erfordern. Daf\u00fcr verwendet er eines der wenigen erhaltenen originalen \u00f6sterreichischen Cembali aus Haydns Lebenszeit: das Leydecker-Cembalo aus der Sammlung des Grazer Universalmuseums Joanneum, gebaut im Jahr 1755. Die Einspielung, die im UNESCO-Welterbe Schloss Eggenberg entstand, umfasst zudem das Cembalokonzert F-Dur Hob. XVIII:3. Das reich bebilderte Album mit Essays in deutscher und englischer Sprache zeigt auf anschauliche Weise, was die Lungauer Sauschneider, der Wiener Hanswurst und Joseph Haydn gemeinsam haben.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Haydn\u2019s work is rich in humour and irony. Michael Hell has set himself the aim of bringing both of these qualities to life in his two-volume CD edition of Joseph Haydn\u2019s harpsichord works. It contains all three solo compositions for harpsichord that require the exceptionally rare keyboard construction known as the \u2018Viennese bass octave\u2019. To this end, he uses one of the few surviving original Austrian harpsichords from Haydn\u2019s lifetime: the Leydecker harpsichord from the collection of the Universalmuseum Joanneum in Graz, built in 1755. The recording, made at Schloss Eggenberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also includes the Harpsichord Concerto in F major, Hob. XVIII:3.
